由宗乡总会主办的“新移民与新加坡社会”体验系列之“Singlish & 新加坡式华语,你真的都会吗~”线上讲座,于2020年12月26日通过Zoom视讯平台圆满举行,吸引了87人参与,同时也在宗乡总会面簿进行了线上直播。主讲嘉宾吕霖轩和魏俐瑞博士与大家一起探讨了新加坡式的英语和华语。 讲座的首位主讲嘉宾为958城市频道主持人吕霖轩,他在讲座中分享了从剧场演员到电台主持人的职业身份所经历的有趣故事,让他逐渐适应了新加坡式的语言。他认为,语言的主要目的是沟通,只要能够更好地进行表达,就算新加坡式华语掺杂了其他语言,依然能够达到沟通的目的。他也鼓励观众要对自己说的语言有自信,不要害怕出错,就算犯下口误也能够从错误中成长,学习不同的文化。 新加坡式华语词汇 分享中,他也列出了传统新加坡华语的几种构成规则,例如由不同方言杂糅及演变而成的词汇,如“鸡婆”一词源于福建方言,意指碎碎念、多嘴。另外还有借鉴英文和马来文而产生的词汇,如“巴士”源自于英文的“Bus”,意指公共汽车;名词“巴刹”源于马来文的“Pasar”,意思即是市集、市场。从吕霖轩分享的不同例子中,见证了新加坡多元文化融合的象征,体现出具有生命力的新加坡华语。 新加坡华语的构成原则 随后,本地诗人作家兼文学评论家魏俐瑞博士也表达了对Singlish(新加坡式英语)的看法。他指出,Singlish并非是英语不好的人所说出的英语,而是独具一格的语言。新加坡拥有的殖民地历史以及多元种族的文化背景,所衍生出的Singlish是包容性极强的一种语言。 魏博士举出了在日常生活中不同场合会遇到的Singlish例子,如“Makan”一词源自马来语,指“吃”的意思;形容词如“Shiok”则表示很爽;“Sabo King”意指工作中的害群之马;而由福建话的“不行”及马来语“承受”所组成的“Buay Tahan”,则是受不了的意思。他也提到了Singlish中趣味十足的语助词,如“lah”“leh”“loh”等,短短一个单词就能够表现出不同的意思和态度,成为Singlish以及新加坡式华语的特色之一。 工作场合中的Singlish例子 Singlish中的语气助词 另外,魏俐瑞博士也特别分享了他将知名法国故事书《小王子》翻译成新加坡式英语版本的“The Leeter Tunku”部分桥段,并且邀请出席者一起朗读,感受Singlish的美妙之处。 在最后的交流环节中,两位主讲者以及讲座主持人运佳博士都不约而同表示,能够说出标准的华语和英语固然重要,但学习新加坡式语言能够更好地了解本土文化,同时也有助于新移民融入本地社会,而这项讲座也为出席者提供了一个互相学习的平台,促进本地人与新移民的理解与交流。
