On the evening of August 6, about 1,200 people joined the 16th National Day Sing-Along at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub Central Plaza to celebrate the nation’s 57th birthday. Ms. Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education and Manpower, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The event was also live-streamed for the audiences online who were unable to be attend physically. A total of 20,000 views were achieved on all live-streaming platforms, marking an overwhelming response.

The audience waved national flags in their hands and sang a number of popular national day theme songs with local singers and choirs to celebrate the nation’s birthday, while radio DJs from CAPITAL958 engaged with the audience, livening the atmosphere. The singers sang familiar national day theme songs such as “Where I Belong”, “Home” and “We Will Get There”, bringing the atmosphere to a climax.

The event was jointly organised by the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), with the aim of uniting Singaporeans and instilling a Singaporean pride. The event was also supported by the National Integration Council (NIC) and the Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC).
