Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) wrapped up its 14th Youth Sports Festival (YSF)at its premise today, bringing its three-month event to a successful conclusion. E-sports also marked its return this year alongside traditional sports, offering youth more diverse ways to compete and connect. Mr Foo Cexiang Minister of State, Ministry of Manpower & Ministry of Trade and Industry, officiated the closing ceremony as Guest of Honour.

As the finale event of this year’s YSF, the highly popular table tennis competition and the returning esports competition were held on the same day. The e-sports event featured 5v5 team battles in the popular mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, where participants formed teams to compete, demonstrating seamless teamwork and a collaborative spirit. The matches were also broadcast live in the clubhouse lobby, allowing the audience on-site to watch together and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the e-sports competition.

With young people’s interests and modes of engagement growing more diverse, SFCCA hopes to connect with youth in more varied ways by introducing e-sports, a medium familiar and popular among the younger generation. By combining traditional sports with electronic gaming, YSF not only provides a platform for youth to compete and interact but also enables young people from diverse backgrounds to build friendships and foster teamwork, further expanding the scope of youth participation in clan association activities.

Dr Zhou mentioned in his speech “For SFCCA, the Youth Sports Festival is more than just organising a sporting event, but rather about providing a platform for young people to connect with one another and become more involved in our clan associations. More importantly, through such activities, we hope to hear more from our youths, give them more opportunities to contribute their ideas and talents, and encourage them to participate in clan affairs in ways that resonate with their generation.
