“New World, New Life”
VR Exhibition
The “New World, New Life” exhibition curated by the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) to commemorate Singapore’s Bicentennial ended on a high note; garnering overwhelming response from visitors. In conjunction with SFCCA’s 35th anniversary theme of “Our Legacy, Our Future: Breathing New Life into Traditions” and to take a step further in sharing Singapore’s history since its founding two hundred years ago, SFCCA has partnered the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) to present the physical exhibition online, complemented with a 360-degree virtual tour.
Spanning from the seventeenth to twenty-first century Singapore, the exhibition showcases six galleries, namely ‘Our Roots’, ‘Migration to Southeast Asia’, ‘Sharing Responsibilities’, ‘Education’, ‘Kampong Days’ and ‘Key Chapter’. Through the experiences of our forefathers and the development of the local Chinese community, the exhibition does much to spur one’s greater understanding of Singaporean Chinese roots.
With Chinese audio guides and virtual reality (VR) technology being incorporated, the exhibition instantaneously transports visitors back in time to experience our forefathers’ journey of sailing across the open seas in search of a better life in Singapore.
