To promote the art of Weiqi and the Chinese culture, Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Singapore Weiqi Association organised the “6th National Zong Xiang Cup Weiqi Competition” on 10th November 2019 (Sunday). Held at SFCCA’s Multi-Purpose Hall@Level 1, the competition received an overwhelming response of over 400 competitors. The competition is supported by 46 clan associations, National Integration Council, Singapore Clan Foundation, and Cultural Matching Fund.

With a total of 8 categories, the “6th National Zong Xiang Cup Weiqi Competition” was open to Primary School students, Secondary School students, and the Open Category to University/ Polytechnic/ Junior College students and Weiqi enthusiasts. The competition kick-started at 7:30am in the morning, and successfully concluded close to 12 hours later, at 7pm in the evening. During the competition, the competitors from the different categories sat facing their opponents in the hall, all focused on their moves and hoping to clinch awards for themselves. The organisers prepared a total of $5,600 worth of prizes (including gift vouchers, trophies and medals) for the winners of the different categories.

Undoubtedly, Weiqi is a popular international mind sport well-received by enthusiasts of all ages
