“This is home, truly, where I know I must be, where my dreams wait for me…” Whether the 80-year-old man, or the three-year-old child, has surely heard of familiar Singaporean tunes such as Stand Up for Singapore, Home, Xiao Ren Wu de Xin Sheng (小人物的心声), Peng You (朋友) and Lou Xiang Tong Yao (陋巷童谣).

On 14th August 2013, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) held the 7th National Day Sing-along Session at the bustling Toa Payoh HDB Hub Atrium, celebrating the nation’s 48th birthday with songs close to Singaporeans’ heart. At 7.30pm, the audience rose to sing the National Anthem and take the pledge with the arrival of the Guest-of-Honour, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Grace Fu Hai Yien as well as SFCCA President Mr Chua Thian Poh and the Council Members. The audience broke into continuous song to the tunes of Count on Me Singapore, Peng You (朋友), Qing Chun Wu Qu (青春舞曲), Cheng Li de Yue Guang (城里的月光), Yao Pin Cai Hui Ying (要拼才会赢) and One People, One Nation, One Singapore. The audience sang along whole-heartedly, celebrating Singapore’s birthday together as one.
