To celebrate 47 years of nation-building in Singapore, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) organised on 11th August 2012 (Saturday) the “National Day Sing-along” for the sixth year running.

This is the second time SFCCA collaborated with Central Singapore Community Development Council and National Integration Council to bring the event to the community, for clans and all residing in Central Singapore. This year’s edition of “National Day Sing-along” took place at Toa Payoh HDB Hub Atrium where participants sang along to the melodious songs, singing praises of our beautiful island state. Prior to the official commencement of the event, when rehearsals were still ongoing, the songs had attracted many passers-by who stopped by for a moment to be serenaded by the singing, and some even asked the crew when the actual event would begin.

The Guest of Honour, Minister Lim Swee Say, led in the singing and pledge-taking. This year’s event saw a total of 14 participating clans which brought much joy to the attendees, leading in the singing of various classic and famous songs. To add to the celebratory mood, Lam Ann Association even composed a song with a brand new set of lyrics but to the tune of “Ye Lai Xiang” (《夜来香》).  Even before the event began at 6:30pm, the seats at the Atrium were all filled up by clan members and the public. It was a heart-warming sight to behold, with the attendees clapping and singing along to the songs, refering to the lyrics on the LED screen and some even waving the mini flags which were distributed to them.

That same evening, SFCCA organised a photography exhibition, showcasing a total of 65 photos taken at the 2018 Duan Wu Carnival Photography Competition. SFCCA’s President Chua Thian Poh presented awards to a total of 8 winners.
