On Saturday, 16 November, Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) successfully organised its inaugural archery networking event, attracting 66 youths from different professions to participate. As one of the events of the 12th Youth Sports Festival, this event is jointly planned by the organising committee and the Youth Interest Group and it aims to provide a platform for youths to interact and grow together through archery which is unique and challenging.

The event was held at Salt & Light Archery @ Chai Chee. Event highlights included icebreakers which were specially designed to help participants quickly familiarise with one another and build friendships.

The participants were eager to take part in the archery experience.

The archery experience was done with professional equipment and under safety guidance. Although many participants were trying archery for the first time, they were able to gradually increase their focus and coordination abilities during the learning process. At the same time, they were able to experience the joys brought by sports while challenging themselves. Through this event, the Federation also wants to instil a greater sense of belonging to the local Chinese community among participants. Moreover, many participants feel that they have made new friends through this event and are interested to future youth events.

The chairman of Singapore Chin Kang Huay Kuan’s Youth Group responded, “The event is very lively. Many of us are trying and learning this sport for the first time. We bonded with youth groups of other clan associations. While we exercise, we also build friendships.”

The archery networking event has ended on a good note.

SFCCA always strives in promoting local Chinese culture, especially focusing on the growth and development of youths. This successful event sufficiently presents the federation’s positive effect in promoting cohesion amongst youth and provided a good example for youth events in the future.

The archery networking event is organised by Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations and supported by National Integration Council, Singapore Clan Fund and Cultural Matching Fund.
