Kampong Glam is where the pioneers of Malay population congregated and resided in the early days. Besides the Malays, some of the Arabs, Javanese, Bugis, Chinese and Indians also earned their living here. The recent Singapore Heritage Visit on 27th August 2016 organised by Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations brought new immigrants and locals to visit Kampong Glam.

The participants got to visit the cultural sites in the vicinity such as Malay Heritage Centre, Sultan Mosque, Nanyang Kuah Si Association and Singapore Loo Clan Association.  A total of 91 participants joined us in the visit.
