On 17 September 2011, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation and officially launched the “UniSIM—Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations Sponsorship”.
Under the witness of Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of UniSIM and Mr Chua Thian Poh, President of the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, the memorandum of understanding was signed by Professor Tsui Kai Chong, Provost of UniSIM, and Mr Patrick Lee, Secretary of the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Association.
The purpose of this sponsorship is to encourage lifelong learning and cultivate more bilingual and bicultural talents, so that members of SFCCA who want to pursue a university degree can realise their dreams. Similar to the SFCCA Scholarship launched earlier for current students, this sponsorship will help adults and working people return to campus.
The sponsorship will provide 5 funding to members and staff of SFCCA and its member associations who are interested in applying for any of the 5 Chinese Language Bachelor of Arts courses at UniSIM. Scholars may receive up to 80% of the total tuition. Applicants must be over 21 years of age, have a minimum college degree and at least 2 years of working experience. There is no contractual bond on this sponsorship. Applicants would also need to be admitted to the relevant department before they can receive the sponsorship.
Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who meet the government tuition fee subsidy will receive up to 80% and 60% respectively of the course fee subsidy; students who do not meet the government tuition fee subsidy will receive 50% of the course fee subsidy.
The programmes that applicants can apply for include: Bachelor of Chinese Language and Literature, Bachelor of Translation and Interpretation, Bachelor of Chinese Communication, Bachelor of Chinese Education, Bachelor of Early Childhood and Chinese Language Education.
We welcome all members and staff of SFCCA to apply and registration will be accepted from now on. Registration closes on October 15. Applicants can download the application form from UniSIM’s website (www.unisim.edu.sg> Admissions> Sponsorship> UniSIM-SFCCA Sponsorship) and submit the application directly to UniSIM. Only successful applicants will be notified. If you have any further queries, please call 6248 9777 (SIM).
