In conjunction with the visit of Hu Jintao, President of the People’s Republic of China to Singapore from 11th to 15th November 2009 for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a gala dinner for the President and his delegation at the St. Regis Hotel on 12th November 2009 with the support of co-organisers Business China, Singapore Business Federation, Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, China Enterprises Association (Singapore) and Singapore-China Friendship Association.

Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng, Minister for Health Khaw Boon Wan, Minister for Manpower Gan Kim Yong, and 380 local and foreign guests attended the dinner. SFCCA Vice President Ho Kiau Seng and many other SFCCA council members were also in attendance.

Teo Siong Seng, President of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry mentioned in his welcome speech that the global economy’s centre of gravity is shifting rapidly to the East and China’s prosperity will drive the development of Asia, bringing more opportunities for Chinese businessmen worldwide.

In his speech, President Hu thanked those who have committed to the bilateral relations between Singapore and China. Also, he conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from China’s citizens.
