On 14th April 2013, Sunday, 500 elderly participants in Project C.A.R.E (Caring and Reaching out to the Elderly) were treated to free grocery shopping at the NTUC FairPrice Xtra in Changi Business Park.
The participants were accompanied by 670 volunteers from Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) and the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA). This is also the first collaborative volunteer programme between SFCCA and CDAC that aims to provide support to needy elderly people.
Chinese lunch was served to the elderly and they were also entertained by performances from the volunteers.
Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and SFCCA President Mr Chua Thian Poh were the guests-of-honour at the lunch.
