On 20th November, in the morning, a dialogue session was held by the Prime Minister’s Office National Population Secretariat and the SFCCA in order to aid the council in learning more about the current immigration situation and discussing the topic of new immigrants integrating into Singapore society. It brought together 50 member groups and new immigrant organisations under SFCCA. The dialogue session was attended by more than 100 people.

On that day, the symposium titled “Integration of Foreigners and Citizens,” hosted by Minister for Manpower, Mr Gan Kim Yong, began with a presentation by a representative from the National Population Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s Office. The representative discussed common issues regarding the integration of foreigners and citizens, as well as government policies regarding our population.

Moreover, the symposium was open to questions from attendees, which were answered by Minister Gan. The symposium ended at 12.30pm.

This is how the association can contribute to the integration of new immigrants:
– Get to know new immigrant members.
– Act as a bridge for citizens and new immigrants to interact and get to know each other.
– Offer assistance and encouragement for new immigrants to participate in various
activities.
– Help locals understand the necessity of attracting immigrants, as well as the importance
of integrating immigrants into local society.
– Actively solicit advice and suggestions from both citizens and new immigrants.
