“Singapore Heritage Visits”, a project initiated by SFCCA and supported by National Integration Council, brought some 90 participants on heritage tours to experience the diversity of Katong/ Joo Chiat neighbourhood on 4th November 2017.
Participants discovered rich heritage and wide spectrum of culture along the streets of Katong/ Joo Chiat area, greeted by rows of exquisite and vibrant Peranakan inspired pre-war shop houses. Participants also stopped at Kim Choo to see exhibits of the Peranakans, followed by visit to Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple and churches along the way. They also had the opportunity to sample famous Nyonya cuisines such as rice dumplings and laksa for lunch at Joo Chiat Community Club.
